Let’s move onto the pumpkin tutorial, shall we? Our pumpkins have three sizes and will be crocheted at first as rectangles, then later seamed and stuff to make a 3D pumpkin shape.

Large Pumpkin (shown in orange):

  • Chain 60
  • For row 1, work a half double crochet (hdc) into the second ch from the hook, then a hdc into each chain.
  • For row 2, chain 2 and turn. Work a hdc into each stitch across.
  • Repeat row 2 until the rectangle is about 10 inches tall.

Medium Pumpkin (shown in green):

  • Chain 45
  • For row 1, work a half double crochet (hdc) into the second ch from the hook, then a hdc into each chain.
  • For row 2, chain 2 and turn. Work a hdc into each stitch across.
  • Repeat row 2 until the rectangle is about 8 inches tall.

Small Pumpkin (shown in gold):

  • Chain 28
  • For row 1, work a half double crochet (hdc) into the second ch from the hook, then a hdc into each chain.
  • For row 2, chain 2 and turn. Work a hdc into each stitch across.
  • Repeat row 2 until the rectangle is about 6 inches tall.

Set aside all rectangles. We will be seaming them up the week we do finishing and assembly (the week after we crochet stem and leaves, see calendar below).
