The All Is Bright Crochet Blanket Throw is a fun and festive throw blanket made of beautiful star motifs. You can choose traditional Christmas colors like I did or pick colors to match your own decor too! The great thing about this blanket is that you can make it any size you want thanks to the easy join as you go technique. Got a bunch of scrap yarn as the year wraps up? Try a scrappy version in a kaleidoscope of different colors too!

  • Blanket shown in the pictures is 32 star motifs total.
  • I made the first row of 5, then the next row row of 4, then repeated that sequence.
  • See picture below to see how all of the stars are joined and how the colors are placed.

Before we start, check out the layout in the pic below of how you’ll place your stars. I used three colors, and none of the colors are side by side to really mix them all up uniformly.

All Is Bright Crochet Throw Blanket Pattern:

First star motif:

Ch 4, then join in the furthest ch with a sl st to form a loop.

Round 1: Ch 3, then work 2 dc into the center of the ring. *(ch 1, 3 dc) five times. Join with a slip stitch in the third chain up where you began the round.

Round 2: Slip stitch over to that first (ch 1) space, then ch 3, then work (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) into the same space. *Work (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) into the next (ch 1) space. Repeat from * four more times. Join with a slip stitch in the third chain up where you began the round.

Round 3: Slip stitch over to that first (ch 1) space, then ch 3, then work (3 dc, ch 2, 4 dc) into the same space. *Work a slip stitch into the next space, then (4 dc, ch 2, 4 dc) into the next space. Repeat from * around. Join with a slip stitch in the third chain up where you began the round.

Second star motif and beyond:

For the second star motif and each star thereafter, work rounds 1-2 (see above)

For round 3, you’ll work it the way you did for your first star, but on the star points where you need to make a join, instead of doing a ch 2 for the star point, you’ll do a slip stitch join in its place into the ch 2 space of the other star. However, if you’re joining one star into two stars, go into the space in between the two stars (the space just above where the two star points are joined together. For star placement, see the photo above to get an idea of how all of the colors fit together.

I began by making a row of five (alternating colors as pictured above), then adding onto that row and so on.

Finishing & Assembly:

Once all of your stars are joined together for your blanket, weave in any ends and it is ready to snuggle up to or gift to someone special!
