How to half double crochet two together (hdc2tog):
Shown below here I have a simple swatch of half double crochet stitches. I used worsted weight yarn and an I crochet hook. We will be working our hdc2tog over these next two stitches in my swatch:
Begin by wrapping yarn around the hook,
Then insert the hook into the stitch and bring up a loop (3 loops are now on the hook),
Next, wrap yarn around hook again,
Then insert the hook into the next stitch and bring up a loop (5 loops are now on the hook),
Wrap yarn around the hook once more,
Then bring the hook through all 5 loops (1 loop is now in the hook).
And that’s it! Use this handy little decrease to create a crown of a hat, shaping of amigurumi or bag, and so much more. Happy crocheting to you!
