The crochet moss stitch is a gorgeous but super easy stitch that is quick to learn and shows off colors beautifully! This stitch is also known as the linen stitch, granite stitch, and woven stitch too. This would be gorgeous in two or more of your favorite yarn colors, but also try experimenting with some self striping yarn for effortless color changes too!

The Starting Chain:
Begin with a chain of any even number,
Row 1:
Work a single crochet in the fourth chain from the hook,
Chain one,
Skip a chain, then work a single crochet into the next chain,
Chain one,
Skip the next chain, then work a single crochet into the next chain,
Repeat across (skip the next chain, work a single crochet, chain one into the next chain) until just two chains remain.
Skip the next chain, then work a single crochet into the last chain of the row.
Row 2:
At this point you can continue with the same color if you want, but this particular stitch really pops if you change colors. So to change colors, cut the yarn and tie the new yarn into the last stitch worked.
Chain one,
Then turn your work,
Work a single crochet, then a chain one into the chain one space from the previous row.
Repeat across, working a single crochet, chain one in each chain one space.
End the row by working a single crochet in the turning chain space at the end of the row.
Repeat row two as many times as you like. Beautiful! As you can see below, I added a third color to add even more color, but you can do what you like best. Happy crocheting!
