Tulip Patch Crochet Dishcloth, Free Pattern + Video Tutorial

The Tulip Patch Crochet Dishcloth is a beautiful and fun to stitch up cloth perfect for kitchen, bath, cleaning, and more! V stitches and pretty puff stitches make rows of happy little flowers all in a row. Have fun making a whole field of them!

Materials: 

  • H (5.0 mm) crochet hook 
  • 70 yards of #4/medium weight cotton dishcloth yarn (I used Spinrite Peaches ‘n Creme in “Ecru” “Forest Green” and “Bright Pink”)
  • Yarn/tapestry needle
  • Scissors 
  • Measuring Tape

  • 9 inches wide
  • 9 inches tall
Tulip Patch Crochet Dishcloth

Pattern Notes:

  • To make a puff stitch, wrap yarn around hook, bring up a loop (3 loops on the hook), wrap yarn around hook again and bring up a loop (5 loops on the hook), wrap yarn around hook and bring up a loop (7 loops on the hook).  Wrap yarn around hook one last time and bring it through all 7 loops on the hook.

  • Easily change the dishcloth width by adjusting the multiple of the starting chain (see below for stitch multiple)
  • Change the height of the dishcloth by working more rows of the pattern.

Tulip Patch Crochet Dishcloth Pattern:

  • Chain 37 (multiple of 3+1, worked in Ecru)
  • Row 1: (worked in Ecru): In the 4th ch from the hook, work a (dc, ch 1, dc), *skip 2 ch then work a (dc, ch 1, dc) in the next ch.  Repeat from * across until 3 ch are left.  Skip 2 ch, then work a dc in the last ch.
  • Row 2 (worked in Ecru): Ch 3 and turn.  *Work a (dc, ch 1, dc) in the ch 1 space from the previous row (center of the “v”).  Repeat from * across.  Work a dc in the topmost chain of the turning chain.
  • Row 3 (worked in Green): Ch 3 and turn.  *Work a (dc, ch 1, dc) in the ch 1 space from the previous row (center of the “v”).  Repeat from * across.  Work a dc in the topmost chain of the turning chain.
  • Row 4 (worked in Pink): Ch 3 and turn.  Work a (puff, ch 1, puff, ch1) in each ch 1 space (center of each “V” from the previous row). Work a dc in the topmost chain of the turning chain.
  • Row 5 (worked in Ecru): Ch 3 and turn.  *Work a (dc, ch 1, dc) in the ch 1 space from the previous row (in between the two puff stitches).  Repeat from * across.  Work a dc in the topmost chain of the turning chain.
  • Repeat rows 2-5 for the remainder of the dishcloth until 9 inches tall or is wide as the dishcloth is as tall as you want, ending on row 2.

Finishing:

  • Weave in any ends.
