font-size: large;\">Wildflower Fields Crochet Poncho<\/span> Pattern Notes:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana; font-size: large;\">I did 12 granny square rounds (2 rounds of each color) before moving onto the gray jaygo rounds.&nbsp; The join as you go rounds are the 13th round of each square.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: verdana; font-size: large;\">At the beginning of each round if you are sticking with the same color for the next round, you will need to slip stitch over to the corner space to begin the round.&nbsp; If you are switching colors for a new round, finish the round, then cut the yarn and fasten off.&nbsp; Tie new yarn into any corner space and begin the new round.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: verdana; font-size: large;\"><u>Instructions for granny squares (make 4):<\/u><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: verdana; font-size: large;\">Chain 4, join into a ring with a slip stitch.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: verdana; font-size: large;\">\u00a0Round 1: <\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: verdana; font-size: large;\">Chain 3, then work (3 dc into center of ring, chain 1) 3 times, then 2 dc into center of ring.\u00a0 Join to close with a slip stitch.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: verdana; font-size: large;\">Round 2: <\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: verdana; font-size: large;\">To work the corner of round 2, first chain 3, then 2 dc in same space, then chain 1, then 3 dc in the same space&#8230;first corner done!\u00a0 Then chain 1, then work the next corner by working 3 dc in next space, chain 1, then 3 dc in same space, chain 1, repeat two more times to complete the round.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: verdana; font-size: large;\">Round 3: <\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: verdana; font-size: large;\">Work the corner in the same manner as the previous round: chain 3, 2 dc in same space, chain 1, 3 dc in same space, chain 1.\u00a0 To work the sides, simply work 3 dc in the next space then chain 1&#8230;repeat until you reach a corner again.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: verdana; font-size: large;\">Round 4 and beyond: <\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: verdana; font-size: large;\">Keep working in this manner, with two clusters in the corners and one cluster on the sides until you finish the round. Just be sure there is a ch 1 in between each grouping of 3 dc as you work each round. That is what gives you those pretty spaces in between each cluster and keeps it nice and flat.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: verdana; font-size: large;\">When you have made 4 granny squares, you can begin joining them together.&nbsp; First, you&#8217;ll want to assemble them as shown.&nbsp; Place one in the center and turn so it looks like a diamond shape.&nbsp; Fold the next two in half and place them along the two edges of the diamond as shown below.&nbsp; Flip over and place the last square like we did the first on the the front.&nbsp; Ready to join!&nbsp; Move on to the section below.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/fiberfluxblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Wildflower20Fields20Poncho20Assembly20.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2048\" height=\"1152\" src=\"https:\/\/fiberfluxblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Wildflower20Fields20Poncho20Assembly20.jpg\" alt=\"Wildflower Fields Crochet Poncho\" class=\"wp-image-1451\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana; font-size: large; text-align: center;\"><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana; font-size: large;\"><u>Instructions for joining your squares to make the basic poncho shape:<\/u><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: verdana; font-size: large;\">Note: It really helps to keep everything flat as you work, I like to lay mine on a table or lap as I go. Also be sure the right side (side that faced up as you stitched up your squares) is facing upward.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: verdana; font-size: large;\">Part 1: The Very First Square (worked independently in the gray yarn as shown, nothing is joined to this one yet)<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: verdana;\">Tie on the round 3 color into any corner space of a square you&#8217;ve previously made and ch 3. In the same space, work (2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc). *In each side space along the square&#8217;s side work (3 dc, ch 1), then&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: verdana;\">(3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) into the corner space<\/span><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: verdana;\">. Repeat from * around the square, then join with a slip stitch to close the round. Fasten off yarn.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: verdana; font-size: large;\">Part 2: Joining The Second Square<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: verdana; font-size: large;\">Grab a second square and tie on the round 3 color into any corner space of a square you&#8217;ve previously made and ch 3. In the same space, work (2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) to work that first corner. In each side space along the square&#8217;s side, work (3 dc, ch 1) <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: verdana; font-size: large;\">When you get to the next corner, this is where we&#8217;ll make our first join. In the corner space work 3 dc. Instead of the ch 1, work a slip stitch into the other square&#8217; corner space, then work 3 dc back into the square. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: verdana; font-size: large;\">As you continue down the side of the square, work a slip stitch into the other square instead of a ch 1, and 3 dc into the side spaces of the square. When you get to the next corner, work 3 dc, slip stitch into the other square&#8217;s corner space, then 3 dc into the corner to finish the joining. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: verdana; font-size: large;\">Work the rest of the square the way you normally would (3 dc, ch 1) in each of the side spaces and (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in the corner). Join with a slip stitch to close round, fasten off yarn and you&#8217;re ready to join another square!<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: verdana; font-size: large;\">Part 3: Joining Subsequent Squares<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: verdana; font-size: large;\">As you join the rest of your squares, you&#8217;ll basically be repeating part 2 (see above), except the only difference being that sometimes there will be an area where you&#8217;ll be joining into a corner that has two squares (instead of simply joining into another single square). In this case make you slip stitch join in the spaces between the squares (not the corner space). <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: verdana; font-size: large;\">Always go directly across in your join to avoid it being off center. To see this join in action in greater detail, be sure to check out the video. In the video, I join two squares\u00a0together, then three, then four squares, showing all possible joining scenarios that may arise as you work on your blanket. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: verdana; font-size: large;\">The rule of thumb is when you get to a spot that requires a join, simply replace the ch 1 with a slip stitch into the other square.\u00a0 Do not fasten off yarn-well add an extended edge in the next section.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: verdana; font-size: large;\">*Important: If you have never tried the JAYGO technique, I highly recommend the video.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana; font-size: large;\"><u>Instructions for working the bottom edge\/bottom extension:<\/u><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana;\">Round 1: <\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana;\">Tie yarn into any corner space (or slip stitch over if needed).\u00a0 In the corner space work (Ch 3, 2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 1).\u00a0 Work (3 dc, ch 1) in each space across (in the spaces where you joined the granny squares, work (3 dc , ch 1) in the center space of the two squares).\u00a0 When you reach the next corner\/bottom point of the poncho, work\u00a0(3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 1), then\u00a0work (3 dc, ch 1) in each space across (in the spaces where you joined the granny squares, work (3 dc , ch 1) in the center space of the two squares). Join to close the round with a slip stitch.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana;\">Round 2:\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana;\">Slip stitch over to the corner space, then chain 3.\u00a0 In the corner space work (2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 1).\u00a0 Work (3 dc, ch 1) in each space across.\u00a0 When you reach the next corner\/bottom point of the poncho, work\u00a0(3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 1), then\u00a0work (3 dc, ch 1) in each space across.
