{"id":11630,"date":"2015-04-28T11:46:00","date_gmt":"2015-04-28T11:46:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2023-11-10T17:11:03","modified_gmt":"2023-11-10T22:11:03","slug":"how-to-make-granny-hexagon-butterfly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fiberfluxblog.com\/2015\/04\/how-to-make-granny-hexagon-butterfly.html","title":{"rendered":"Crochet Granny Hexagon Butterfly, Photo + Video Tutorial"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2048\" height=\"1703\" src=\"https:\/\/fiberfluxblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/grannybutterfly.jpg\" alt=\"Crochet Granny Hexagon Butterfly\" class=\"wp-image-11631\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><a style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"https:\/\/fiberfluxblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/grannybutterfly.jpg\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;\"><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;\">A crochet granny hexagon butterfly is so cute and easy to make! \u00a0They are a great way too to use up some of your scrap yarn and ribbon too&#8230;all you need is a finished hexagon (tutorial below), some ribbon and scissors. \u00a0Let&#8217;s make a pretty butterfly, shall we?<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Crochet Granny Hexagon Butterfly Instructions:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Chain 4 and join into a ring with a slip stitch.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Round 1: Chain 4 (counts as a dc), then work (a dc into center of ring, chain 1) 11 times. &nbsp;Join to close with a slip stitch.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Note: If you want to make round 2 in the same color, simply slip stitch until you reach a ch 1 space and keep going. &nbsp;If you want to switch colors\u2026cut yarn and join the new yarn at one of the ch 1 spaces and tie securely.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Round 2: Chain 3 and work a dc in the same space. &nbsp;Chain 1, then work two double crochet in the next (chain 1) space. &nbsp;Keep doing this all the way around, working 2 dc in each space, then a chain 1. &nbsp;Join to close with a slip stitch.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Round 3: Chain 3, then work 2 dc in the same space, then chain 1. &nbsp;In the next space, work three dc, then chain 1. &nbsp;Keep doing this all the way around the circle\u20263 dc, then a chain 1 in each space. &nbsp;Join with a slip stitch to close.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Round 4 (circle becomes hexagon in this round):\u00a0Chain 4, and in the first space work 2 dc, chain 1, then 3 dc all in the same space. \u00a0This creates the first hexagon corner. \u00a0In the next space, to work the hexagon side, chain 1, then work 3 dc in next space.\u00a0Keep going in this manner, working a corner of two \u201cclusters\u201d and a side of 1 cluster (each cluster being separated by a chain 1). \u00a0Join with a slip stitch to close the round.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Repeat round 5 for a larger butterfly!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2048\" height=\"1536\" src=\"https:\/\/fiberfluxblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/grannybutterfly2.jpg\" alt=\"Crochet Granny Hexagon Butterfly\" class=\"wp-image-11632\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><a style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"https:\/\/fiberfluxblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/grannybutterfly2.jpg\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;\"><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;\">The blue-edged hexagon above was worked in 5 rounds and the yellow-edged hexagon was made in 4 rounds. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Watch<span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;\"> a full video tutorial on how to make a hexagon stitch by stitch:<\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Episode 197: How to Make a Granny Hexagon Butterfly\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/mfW-RIORl-s?start=61&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=mfW-RIORl-s&amp;t=61s\">Can&#8217;t see the video?
