The Fiddlehead Shawl is is gorgeous and fresh wrap that can be worn in all four seasons. Alternating v-stitches and puff stitches create fabulous texture and and is easy pie to work up. What is a fiddlehead you may be wondering? They are those cute and curly early spring fronds of the fern plant that eventually unroll into spiky fern fronds. The color of this shawl celebrates the green freshness of the early fern and is a great piece for not only spring, but the other three seasons too!

Instructions:
*Note: The puff stitches in this piece are worked by wrapping yarn around hook and bring up a loop (3 loops on the hook, wrapping yarn around hook and bring up a loop (5 loops on the hook, wrapping yarn around hook and bring up a loop (7 loops on the hook). Wrap yarn around hook one last time and bring hook through all 7 loops. Chain 1 to close stitch.
*Note 2: In the video and written pattern, I work a ch 1 in between each “V’ of the v-stitch. However, if you are getting some tightness or “bunchiness”, try working a ch 2 instead. Tension varies between crocheters and that puff is can be slightly bulky, so try both and see what works best for you!
Ch 65
Row 1: In the 4th ch from the hook, work a (dc, ch 1, dc). *Skip 2 chains, then work a puff stitch (see note above) in the next chain. Skip 2 chains then work a (dc, ch 1, dc) in the next chain. Repeat from * across, then work 1 dc in the last ch.
Row 2: Ch 3 and turn. *Work a puff stitch into the ch 2 space from previous row (center of the v stitch). Work (dc, ch 1, dc) into the top of the puff stitch (the chain that you made to close the stitch). Repeat from * across. Work a dc in the top ch of the turning chain.
Row 3: Ch 3 and turn. *Work a (dc, ch 1, dc) into the top of the puff stitch (the chain that you made to close the stitch). Work a puff stitch into the ch 2 space from previous row (center of the v stitch). Repeat from * across. Work a dc in the top ch of the turning chain.
Repeat rows 2 and 3 until piece is about 50 inches long or desired length.
Finishing:
Weave in all ends with a tapestry needle and you’re finished!

On my way to the store for more yarn!! Can’t wait to get this wrap started!! Thank you Jennifer!
Love your shawl. But I have a question on Row 2. You say: "Work a puff stitch into the ch 2 space from previous row (center of the v stitch)." I'm assuming the V stitch is the dc-ch1-dc stitch so I can't find the ch2sp. It's a minor problem & the shawl looks great with either ch1sp or a ch2sp in the V stitch. Thanks.
He wrote in a note that some people use a ch 2 or ch 1 between the DC for v-stitch.The puff definitely goes in that ch space. Also, the choice of 1 or 2 chs depends on how tight your stitches are.

Love this pattern!!! So easy, simple and yet so beautiful! I am using Patons Bamboo and Silk yarn in Blush, Almond and Stone. Thank you so much for these directions written out so clearly. Much appreciated.
What are the compatibles on this, please? I need to make this much wider (and longer) for a disabled person. Thank you.

Thank you very much!
Have a nice Thursday!

This is an absolutely gorgeous wrap! I am looking forward to making it. Mine will either be in purple, mint, or grey. Possibly striped in amethyst and Heather Grey. And another in celery and burnt orange and red. Can't wait to start.
I would like to use #3 weight yarn. What if any alterations to the beginning will be needed?
